Remember Siobhan “Shiv” Roy from Succession?
Well, it is played by Sarah Snook. She won the 2020 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role in the comedy-drama series.
She has also won the AACTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her outstanding performance in Predestination.

10. Australia was the start of her career
Did you know that she is an Australian?
Well, Sarah Snook is originally an Australian and graduated from the National Institute of Dramatic Art, Sydney in 2008. She did not start her career in Hollywood. The breaking point for her was, of course, in Australia.
Snook, who started off in Sydney’s theatres, has made it a point to pace her career in Australian movies and television series. She also won the Australian Academy for Cinema and Television Arts awards, which is equivalent to the Oscars in Hollywood.

9. Shiv wasn’t her first role in Hollywood
For many, Sarah Snook is familiar because of her role in Succession.
Did you know that it was not her first on-screen performance on the American screens?
Snook appeared in famous movies like Steve Jobs, The Glass Castle and Netflix’s Black Mirror.
During an interview with G.Q., Snook says that she casually took the audition for Succession. “This is out of my league. I’ll just come and do it and get out of here. Free trip to L.A. for a weekend and see my friends. That’ll be great.” is what she said about the whole auditioning.
Well, the character did give her quite a lot of recognition.
8. Never forget your roots

For Sarah, it’s all about remembering from where she began. Sarah never forgets it and that has always helped her to stay grounded, especially in the Hollywood industry.
Do you know what she does to remember Australia most times?
She has a pack of seashells beside her bed and a painting made by her friend. This makes her remember her Australian seaside whenever possible.
She also says that if customs raid her house, she would tell them to spare her seashells.
That’s the real love someone should show towards their homeland.
7. The transsexual young man in Predestination

Jane or John?
Playing the transsexual young man was the most challenging characters of her career to date. She had to do a lot of research to do justice to the character.
But no worries theres; she won the AACTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in the film.
A teenager who is discovering the other side of herself and wants to change into a man is completely difficult to portray.
Sarah does tell that she had to go through a lot of posturing and peacocking to show that kind of a progression.
6. Sarah hated Hollywood
Well, not exactly. But Sarah thought that she would hate Hollywood when she joined the industry.
Do you know why?
Well, she thought that the industry was full of superficial and shallow people but she was proven wrong.
During an interview, Sarah said that she found a lot of good people in the industry who created their own little niche. She also added that the worst part of the industry is that it is full of narcissistic actors who are trying to move forward in their game, whenever you do something wrong.
Well, that might be the competitive spirit which every industry beholds, isn’t it?
Sarah always makes it a point to travel whenever she ends the shoot of any film or series.
Do you know where she went after completing the shoot for the Season two of Succession?
Sarah went to Croatia, Italy and Spain. Now that sounds like a fantastic holiday!
During an interview with Vulture, Sarah said that she has travel running in her blood. Her parents met each other in Papua New Guinea while they both were travelling. She would love to live in national parks and hill stations if it were possible.
Travelling whenever possible, that’s great!
4. Inspired by Cate Blanchett
Remember the movie ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’ or ‘Mrs. American’?
Well, Cate Blanchett played the lead role in both the movies.
For Sarah, Cate is her main inspiration. Cate is one of the most accomplished actors of the Australian industry. She has received numerous awards which include two Academy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, and three British Academy Film Awards.
No wonder why Sarah has placed her on top of her role model list. Well, they both have something in common – their love for Australia. Cate is someone who manages both her family and career side by side and Sarah wishes to be like her at some point in her life.
3. Long List of accomplished ladies
Imagine having an aunt or mother who is already in the acting field like you?
Wouldn’t that be great?
For Sarah, her great aunt was already one of the most accomplished ladies she has ever seen. Sarah recalls that her aunt, who was in her 90s, is one of the most versatile ladies she has ever seen. Her aunt also studied drama in her 20s in London and after her marriage, she proved how great a wife she is.
Well, Sarah might have gotten some of her genes from her aunt!
2. Proud Australian
Sarah is pleased to be an Australian.
Well, that’s why she never forgets her roots.
Sarah’s father was a swimming-pool salesman and her mother was a geriatric caretaker. Thus, she never anticipated that she would make into the film and TV world. She also performed in Macbeth, King Lear and Gallipoli.
That shows how proud she is for being an Australian. Also, she would love to act for any Australian movie or TV series in future if she gets a chance.

Even though she is born in Adelaide, Australia, her favorite destination of all around the world is and will always be Melbourne.
She moved there a few years ago for work and since then she fell in love with the city.

Who does not love designer dresses?
Well, Sarah doesn’t!
For her, Sarah prefers formals over anything fashionable. She says that designers like YB Jaime should be appreciated for the work that they do.
However, for her everyday look, she would prefer anything casual like a pair of denim. Sarah feels like she’s in another world when she owns different types of denim.
